Kate said Fix. Go
“What is man, that You should exalt him, That You should set Your heart on him…”
(Job 7:17 NKJV)
“What is man that You are mindful of him, And the son of man that You visit him?”
(Psalms 8:4 NKJV)
This question was uttered by different people for different reasons in the bible. When Job said it, it was the plea of a beleaguered man seeking for respite. When David said it in Psalm 8, it was with a confidence that though we may seem insignificant when compared with the Creator of the universe, that same Creator considers us.
“Set your heart” and “mindful” in these two scripture verses can be considered synonyms for “fix“. God’s heart is fixed on us! Even though we know He loves us, we very often only think about this in an abstract fashion. I like the way both Job and David have described His attention – it’s intentional and we need only to stop and think for a moment before we find many examples of His mindfulness towards us.
I’m comforted anew every time I remember these truths – knowing that He pays attention to us and is concerned with all aspects of our lives so much so that He’s fixed on us.
But it doesn’t end there. Scripture tells us in turn to fix our attention on Him.
“Therefore, holy brothers and sisters, who share in the heavenly calling, fix your thoughts on Jesus, whom we acknowledge as our apostle and high priest”. (Hebrews 3:1 NIV)
And
“…And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith…”. (Hebrews 12:1-2 NIV)
The verses preceding Hebrews 12 tells us that because Jesus has shared in our humanity, He is merciful and faithful and able to help us (Hebrews 11:14-18). Basically, no one else can relate better to us and our failings/hardships/situations/etc. When we fix our eyes on the One who has His heart fixed on us, we find strength and encouragement to carry on.
I hope you are encouraged today that God (the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit) has His heart fixed on you.
Though we may seem insignificant when compared with the Creator of the universe, that same Creator considers us as important #FMF #Fiveminutefriday Share on XThis post was originally written for Five Minute Friday but may also be linked up at these places.

Wemi, this is beautiful. Yes, I must fix my mind on God, Even on those days when I may not, God’s eyes are fixed on me. How precious this is to me this morning that He never loses sight of me. Beautiful!

No matter how long or how much we ponder the love of God, there’s always more and there’s always deep encouragement to be gained.
A good reminder. Thanks for sharing!
Isaiah 26.3 Fixing my eyes on The Fixer!
God’s eyes are fixed upon me,
and that sometimes, well, gives me pause,
for the Lord might just chance to see
that I’m breaking all His laws
(not all at once, I gotta say,
but one or two by one);
I seem to do this every day,
no saint, but just a bum
who wants to be a better man,
but shies from what he ought to do,
who doesn’t really have a plan
to see his wayward heart right through
temptations I’ll seek out today…
but God, He loves me anyway!
I love the last line! As always your poem is spot on Andrew.
What a tender blessing to consider God thinking about me. Love it.

I love the direction you took with “fix”! It’s so amazing to think that God fixes his attention on me; it makes me want to fix my attention on him all the more. Thanks, Wemi!

Thank you for reading and commenting!
This is a two way street. He fixes His eyes on us and we fix our eyes on Him. Thanks for this lovely thought. I shall be thinking about this today.
If ever we needed to fix our eyes on Jesus, it would be now when everything and everybody else is grabbing for our attention, our fear, our vulnerabilities.
Wemi, thanks.
His heart is fixed on us. I love this thought!!!! I will be featuring you on the grace and truth link up tomorrow.
That thought is a great big comfort isn’t it? 🙂 Thank you for the feature! ❤
