A quick Google search reveals “Never” to mean – at no time in the past or future; not ever; not at all
When that word is used, the listener understands that the ‘thing’ in question is impossible. That it would not happen, no matter what. But how many times have you thought something could never happen (whether good or bad) and it did? Or people gave you their word only to go back on it? Sometimes despite their best intentions. Perhaps due to circumstances outside their control.
In this world, there aren’t many things that remain unchanging or unshakeable. Even mountains that have stood for eons do shake. Economies crumble. The most trustworthy person can disappoint you. “Never” in this frail word is founded on shifting sand. Perhaps that’s why the phrase “never say never” was coined. Because we all know that things can change unexpectedly.
But there is one Person that can say “never” and it’s not subject to the shifting sands of time or human nature. The Godhead three in one.
I share below a few examples (there are many more) of God’s “never” promises that I pray will give you hope and bring you comfort in these turbulent times.
Hebrews 13:5 (one of my favourite scriptures)
“Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have, for he has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”
Lamentations 3:23 ESV
“The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness”
Romans 10:11 NIV
“As Scripture says, “Anyone who believes in him will never be put to shame.”
Joseph was a man that could attest to the fickleness of man and the never-changing faithfulness of God.
Throughout Genesis 39 we read in several places (four to be exact) that “the LORD was with Joseph”. That same chapter was where the worst things happened to him. He was falsely accused, judged and sentenced without a trial and thrown into prison. But GOD was with him. Even in prison (Gen 39:21). When all seemed lost and he was far away from blood and kin. When his master who he had served faithfully for years abandoned him. God was with him.
Let’s not forget Daniel. He was thrown to the lions and the den sealed up with no way of escape. Even in that situation where all seemed lost, God was with him (Daniel 6:21).
In an ever-changing world, what great comfort to know that there is no possible or impossible situation that can cause God to abandon us. I hope you are comforted and encouraged today to know that when our God says “never”, He means it. There truly is no shadow of turning with Him. His mercies are truly neverending and we get a fresh outpouring every day.
Wemi, what a beautiful message. I appreciate your insights and encouragement within friend.

Thanks Paula! 😊
A great message! God is truly unchanging.
Indeed He is! 🙌🏽
Never changing-what a treasure in this ever changing world!
An absolute treasure!
Wemi, yes to all of this. Our Father promises to never leave or forsake us. I’ve lost track of how many times I’ve found comfort in that truth. I’m so glad that, of all the shifting things in my life, God’s faithfulness isn’t among them. Beautiful reminders here!
I like reviewing the eternal, forever nature four God. he never leaves us alone. like you said.
🙌🏽🙌🏽 Indeed! Thanks for commenting 🙂
Wemi, oh yes, He alone is always true to His Word. That He never changes like shifting shadows is such a comfort, isn’t it …
Such a comfort Linda. Our stability in an unsure world. Thanks for commenting x
