When I first saw this word prompt, what jumped to my mind was the oldie but goodie scripture verse, “His love endures forever” (Psalm 136). As a believer, this verse is probably one you are also very familiar with. I mean there’s an entire Psalm (all 26 verses of it) devoted to this phrase and we even sing songs about it.

The popularity of this verse is right up there with “for God so loved the world” (John 3:16). It’s a phrase I myself have said so many times. At times, it even feels almost like a cliche. But when I sat down to write, prompted by the word “endure”, I was reminded of the truth in that verse. God’s love endures forever. No matter what. His love doesn’t grow tired. He doesn’t get fed up of my repeated offences or my at-times inane requests.

The word “endure” conjures up the image of a mountain. Immovable and able to withstand the elements and natural disasters. That analogy although apt in some ways doesn’t even come close to describing God’s love for me and you. Immovable. Unshakeable (mountains unfortunately do shake). Everlasting (His love will outlast even the mountains). Enduring.

I’m encouraged by this even on my lowest days and I’ve never been more grateful for a cliché.
