I haven’t blogged for several months and I must confess, it all feels a bit rusty.

As the days whizzed by in a blur of school runs, work meetings, church responsibilities, housekeeping, etc my heart longed to pen words that had nothing to do with science or medicine, my day job. As a mum of two with a full-time career, I’ve reminded myself that time has never been in abundance. That I used to write in the margins and pockets of each day. Before the house stirred and long after little feet had stopped scampering. Yet somehow, I’ve not been able to get back into that particular rhythm. Whenever the guilt got too much, I’d pray for God to help me back.

When I saw Kate’s email about the 31 days of writing, I thought perhaps this was God’s way of answering my prayer. Of helping me back. I had hoped my prayers would be answered with perhaps more time in my day or supernatural motivation and inspiration but what better way to get the creative juices flowing than with a list of prompts and an encouraging writing group?

The wonders of His ways…who can know it? His thoughts far above ours, His ways are not ours (Isa 55:8-9).

We don’t always get our prayers answered exactly how or even when we want but I’ve found that He is always at work and (to my great relief) for my good.

I leave you with Isaiah 43:19 (ESV),

“Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert”
